Nepali Rope Incense: Cedar

Nepali rope incense is a traditional form of incense made by wrapping finely ground aromatic herbs, woods, resins, and spices in handmade paper, then twisting the paper into a slender rope. As it burns, the paper slowly carries the aromatic blend along the length of the incense.

Unlike bamboo-stick incense, rope incense has no wooden core. This gives it a more direct, rustic style of burning and allows the fragrance of the botanical materials to remain prominent.

How to Use

1. Place the rope incense in a heatproof incense burner or dish, preferably on a bed of ash or sand.
2. Light one end of the rope and allow it to catch flame briefly.
3. Gently blow out the flame, leaving the tip glowing and producing fragrant smoke.
4. Allow the incense to smoulder naturally. It may be extinguished earlier by pressing the burning end firmly into sand or ash.
5. Always burn incense in a well-ventilated area, on a stable heat-resistant surface, and never leave burning incense unattended. Keep away from children, pets, fabrics, and other flammable materials.
